Some of the local car clubs have tried to start a monthly Cars & Coffee event similar to those that have been so successful in other cities. The location chosen was the parking lot at Holiday Ham on Erin Drive at Poplar (one block west of Mendenhall)...chosen because of a good breakfast menu, a large parking lot and a central location. The idea was to hold it on the first Saturday each month beginning at 8:00AM, moving it to the 2nd Saturday in case of rain.
The first one was in July, and was a good start....around 20 or so cars of various kinds (antiques, British, Italian, German, etc.). The turnout was similar in August, but wasn't as good in September. I missed October (it conflicted with our British club's annual show - Memphis Euro Auto Fest), so I have no idea how the turnout was then.
I'm not in touch with the other clubs, so I don't what kind of participation to expect from them. Any interest among you folks to attend? I expect to be there in my MGB and my wife in the Miata (she only drives automatics!)....even if no one else shows up. Should be a great day - sunny, starting off cool...but with a high of 69.
I'd love to show up!
The weather's supposed to be good too!
Anybody else?
got called to work this saturday but i told them no way on sunday.
I'll try to make it. Sounds like fun!
Like to be there. But to far away for us just to have coffee & not do anything else. ![]()
I just got confirmation from the guy who originated the event...it's still on, and he's notified the other car clubs. The time is 8:30 though, not 8:00...
Got to meet aallen and stevekmo this morning at the Cars & Coffee - along with Patricia, who I already knew from the British club. Didn't bring my Miata. The plan was for my wife to drive it while I drove the MGB, but she decided to ride shotgun instead.
Pretty nice turnout of cars. 2 MGBs, 2 Miatas, Spitfire, Lotus, Pininfarina, Dino, 3 NSXs, Mini, Austin Healey 3000, Subaru WRX, Boxter, '28 Pontiac, '59 Desoto, '57 Ford...
Y'all should come out next month! December 5th....unless it's raining, then it'll be the following Saturday.
Great to meet you Joe. Good to see Steve as well. There were some cool cars & even cooler people there. I enjoyed it very much indeed!
It was a beautiful morning. The great cars and wonderful people added to perfection. It was good to meet aallen and stevekmo. I look forward to meeting more club members at a future event.
It was nice meeting you all as well. It was a nice morning. Hope to make it next month!
Sorry I couldn't make it this morning. Flew in yesterday and slept in. Hope to make it next time.
